Karen Johnson

Interim Chief Executive Officer

Karen is an independent board director for public and private companies. She also serves as an advisor to private equity backed early and mid-stage healthcare tech companies. She currently serves as Executive Chair and Interim CEO for Clever Care Health Plan. She recently served as Interim CEO for the March of Dimes where she led the organization in the fight for the health of all moms and babies.

With more than 35 years of experience in the healthcare industry, Karen has deep operational expertise in highly regulated insurance lines of business, product development, direct to consumer growth, compliance and organizational transformation. Recognized for her strategic and business acumen, her passion is leadership development and positively impacting and improving the health status of vulnerable populations, while advancing health equity.

Prior to retirement in 2022, Karen was the Medicare Officer for Health Net, a Centene Corporation (CNC) company and Fortune 20 enterprise, where she managed a $3.5B+ revenue generating multiproduct business. She also served on the Enterprise Diversity and Inclusion Council and Corporate Health Equity Task Force.

 

Karen has held executive leadership roles for UnitedHealthcare, Cigna, WellCare, Health Essentials, Cleveland Clinic Health System and Lake Health.

Karen currently serves as a corporate director and Nominating/Governance Chair and Compliance committee member on the board of The Oncology Institute of Hope and Innovation (NASDAQ: TOI); Executive Board Chair of Clever Care Health Plan, National Trustee for March of Dimes and Bon Secours Mercy Health Foundation. Karen is a consultant advisor for Google Ventures and works with private equity firms as an adviser to several early and mid-stage startup healthcare tech companies.

She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from the University of Michigan and a Juris Doctorate from Michigan State College of Law. She also holds an Executive Certificate from the Wharton School of Business. She and her husband reside in Los Angeles, California.

Richard Greene

President

Richard Greene brings extensive knowledge and experience as a financial healthcare executive. Richard has previously served as the Chief Operating Officer/Chief Financial Officer at AppleCare Medical Management (a subsidiary of Optum) and provided financial leadership from 1996 to 2010 as Chief Financial Officer at Arcadian Management Services, Syntiro HealthCare Services, and PacifiCare Health Systems.

Hiep Pham is the founder and Chief Financial Officer and one of the founders of Clever Care Health Plan. Hiep has extensive experience in health care finance spanning over 14 years, with heavy focus on financial oversight, regulatory compliance and audits, and risk management.

Prior to founding Clever Care, Hiep served as CFO of Blue Cross® Blue Shield® Arizona Advantage, where he successfully reconciled and recouped $15 million of CMS payment errors. Hiep also spent nine years as a Vice President of Financial Planning & Analysis at SCAN Health Plan and five years as a Finance Manager at Mitsubishi Motors North America.

Hiep earned his Master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Southern California and his Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting from California State University at Fullerton.

Khaliq Siddiq, MD

Chief Medical Officer

Dr. Siddiq is the Chief Medical Officer at Clever Care Health Plan. Dr. Siddiq has more than twenty-five years of progressive experience with a strong foundation in medical program management, strategic planning, and team building. He is passionate about creating programs and initiatives to deliver high quality health care in underserved and under-represented communities. Throughout his career, Dr. Siddiq has partnered with physician groups, hospitals, and health plans to improve access to care, clinical outcomes and member experience.

Khaliq has extensive experience in leading health care organizations to improve performance across all lines of business: Fee for service, Medicare, MediCal, and Commercial Managed Care. Dr. Siddiq has held senior leadership roles including Regional Chief Medical Officer for St. Joseph Heritage Healthcare, California Medical Director at Agilon Health, and Regional Medical Director at BlueShield of California.

Unmesh Srivastava

Chief Digital & Technology Officer

Unmesh Srivastava is the Chief Digital & Technology Officer at Clever Care Health Plan. He has over 14 years of experience in healthcare technology and innovation, digital health and value-based care technology and a proven track record in building technology-enabled business operations in care delivery, health plan operations, pharmacy, and labs space. His leadership is focused on enabling physicians, health systems, and patients with technology to impact the quadruple goal.

Prior to joining Clever Care, Unmesh served as the Chief Technology Officer at P3 Health Partners. He played an instrumental role in accelerating technology innovation to build a differentiated patient and provider experience for P3. He has served as the Associate Vice President, Head of Innovation and Transformation at Optum Care California, and led Innovation and Transformation for care delivery organizations within UnitedHealth Group.

Unmesh earned his Master’s degree in Engineering Management from Northridge University in California and his Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics and Communications Engineering from Rajasthan University India. 

Martina Lee Strickland

Martina Lee Strickland is the Chief Growth Officer at Clever Care Health Plan. Martina has a wealth of experience in strategic sales, business development, marketing, channel development, and cross-selling strategies from her time at United Health Care, Anthem and Centene. These prior roles provided her with deep expertise in medical group and Medicare membership growth, training, branding, and retention in multicultural markets.

Erin Ramsey is the Chief Operations Officer. She has over 10 years of managed care experience with a focus on compliance.

Prior to joining Clever Care, Erin was the Vice President of Managed Care at Coast Healthcare Management and the Chief Compliance Officer for Golden State Medicare Health Plan.

Erin earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Health Care Administration from California State University Long Beach.

Peter Winston is the Senior Vice President and General Manager of Community and Provider Development at Clever Care Health Plan. Peter is an accomplished senior healthcare executive with close to 40 years of success in health care. He was a well-known leading healthcare figure in California provider communities. He was listed in ‘Who’s Who in US Executives’ and taught at a number of local community classes.

Prior to joining Clever Care, Peter was the Vice President of Payer Contracting at Agilon Health and Executive Vice President for SynerMed (a $700 million IPA MSO).

Peter earned his Masters of Health Administration degree from Duke University and Bachelor’s degree in Biology from SUNY, NY.

Sabrina Coleman

Vice President, Audit and Compliance Officer

Sabrina Coleman is the Vice President, Audit and Compliance Officer at Clever Care Health Plan. Sabrina Coleman brings 15 years of experience as an attorney and healthcare compliance professional. She most recently served as the Corporate Compliance and Privacy Officer of PacificSource Health Plans where she was responsible for administering and managing the enterprise’s compliance program, ensuring that it maintained full compliance with all governmental agencies, including all Federal and State regulatory agencies. Prior to that, she served Senior Director of Delegation Oversight for L.A. Care Health Plan, as well as Senior Director of Compliance and Audit services in an earlier role with that same company. Coleman’s career also included various compliance roles with the New York based organizations Public Consulting Group, Montefiore Medical Center and Living Life Home Care and she has taught compliance and privacy classes at USC Law.

Coleman earned her Juris Doctorate in Law from Villanova University Charles Widger School of Law and her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Japanese from Lincoln University, both in Pennsylvania.

Andy Higgins

Vice President of Product Development

Andy Higgins is the Vice President of Product Development at Clever Care Health Plan. He has a passion for building products and services that help patients of all backgrounds improve their health and well-being. With over 20 years of healthcare experience, Andy has held a variety of leadership roles at Aetna, CVS Health, and Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield. Prior to joining Clever Care, he launched dozens of new Medicare Advantage plans and innovative supplemental benefits for seniors. Prior to that, he managed a $50M portfolio of clinical programs at CVS Health, where he was awarded two Breakthrough Awards for innovation and selected for CVS’s high potential leadership training program.

Andy earned an M.B.A. from the University of Massachusetts and a B.A. in Economics from Westfield State University.

Deana Lawson, Vice President of Community and Provider Development (New York)

Deana Lawson is the Vice President of Community and Provider Development at Clever Care of New York. Deana has over 20 years of experience in network development and operations. Prior to joining Clever Care of New York, Deana was the Vice President of Network Operations at Affinity Health Plan in New York.  In addition, Deana held the position of Vice President of Contracting for Independence Care System New York where she played an integral role in launching the Fully Integrated Duals Advantage Program. Deana has held Network Development & Contract Management roles  for Cigna, Universal American and Centene Corporation. Deana earned her Executive MBA degree from Kean University New Jersey and a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Prairie View A&M University, Texas.

Van Ngo

VP of Finance & Controller

Van Ngo is joining Clever Care as VP & Controller. Van is an accounting professional with over 13 years of experience within the healthcare industry and holds a Master of Business Administration from University of California, Irvine.

She recently worked for ApolloMed as their Corporate Controller. Prior to ApolloMed, Van served in various leadership roles at Hoag Memorial Hospital and Prospect Medical Systems.

Aside from her accounting expertise and Medicare Advantage knowledge, Van exudes positive energy and a passion for Clever Care’s mission. She is an integral addition to our Executive team and Finance department.
